Keren Amiran
Interior
11thNovember – 22ndDecember 2004
Sprovieri is pleased to announce Interiorthe second exhibition of Keren Amiran.
Keren Amiran’s work primarily consists of photographs, films and sound installations. Her work creates a vision that is freed of all inessential elements, founding a discipline of the image, which is not repressive but liberated from representation although not from the senses. It wields the weapon of suspicion and doubt and goes against the aesthetic, allowing the work to go beyond the anticipated criteria of convention. It creates a suspension that induces disequilibrium of meaning.
For her exhibition at Sprovieri, Keren Amiran will be showing a sound piece that accompanies a new series of five photographic images. Interioris constituted of collages taken from interior design magazines. Several images are assembled together and selected fragments cut or torn out from the various layers before being re-photographed. The final image has the appearance of a possible real space and yet, these spaces are intermediary as if they were in a process of construction or demolition.
Keren Amiran was born in 1975 in Tel Aviv. She lives and works in London.
