Sprovieri is pleased to present Esperando el Apagón, the first solo exhibition in the UK by Spanish artist Jorge Peris.

Peris’ work combines different media and often takes the form of installations. The artist operates with the given space and transforms it by adding or subtracting architectural elements. He creates a new situation, felt as real, but unsettling, in which the sensation of familiarity falls apart. His work tends to widen the gap between emotion and intellect. The space challenges its relationship to the viewer and the viewers with themselves.

For this exhibition, Peris has created a large-scale installation that explores fields of perception. Confronted with a sentiment of disturbance, the visitor’s physical relationship with the work becomes the essential point to his reflection, raising different layers of interpretation. Esperando el Apagón blurs the limits between installation and performance.

Born in 1969 in Alzira (Valencia), Jorge Peris lives and works in Madrid. He has recently exhibited at Espace Public> in Paris, Jammed Smart Project Space in Amsterdam and Domestico 03 in Madrid.
