Medusa (Jellyfish) is part of an ongoing series since 2013 first sculpted in wood, then in bronze via lost wax casting. According to a recurrent practice in his work, the sculptures originate from the use of certain elements collected from the landscape. Calò has worked on poles extracted from the Venice lagoon known as "briccole". Constant erosion by the water through tidal motion naturally corrodes the central part of these posts where they meet the sea, causing detachment of their upper portion. The shape generated refers to the sculptural tradition of the “bust” and, by extension, the mythological figure of Medusa.
