"I would prefer not to (preferirei di no): II, 2013" is a sculpture composed of a beehive, ceramic electrical components, several wooden beams originally used as streetlight poles, and hundreds of kilos of sand. The hive, made up of 4 stacked layers, is divided into two halves set on the floor, two wooden cross-pieces are attached to the central beam, and screwed onto them are ceramic isolators originally used for electrical cables (or high-volatage power lines). The sand inside the hive (300 kg from the bed of the Thames), in addition to keeping the structure stable, pours out of several holes in the wood, which has been battered and eaten away by the weather. Like in an hourglass, the sand spreads out on the floor to form nearly perfect cones, the result of almost imperceptible vibrations. The title of the work, refers to the protagonist of Herman Melville's short story 'Bartleby, the scrivener: a story of Wall Street'.

"Preferirei di no (I would prefer not to): II, 2013" è una scultura composta da un’arnia, componenti elettrici in ceramica, alcune travi di legno originariamente utilizzate come pali della luce e sabbia. L’arnia costituita da 4 piani verticali, è tagliata in 2 metà posizionate sul pavimento (da una parte è collocata la base dell’arnia e dall’altra la sua sommità capovolta). Alla trave centrale sono fissate 2 traverse di legno, su cui ci sono avvitati degli isolatori in ceramica originariamente utilizzati per i cavi elettrici (o dell’alta tensione). La sabbia, collocata all’interno dell’arnia, oltre a mantenere stabile la scultura, fuoriesce da alcuni fori presenti nel legno, eroso o consumato dalle intemperie. Come in una clessidra, la sabbia si espande sul pavimento a formare coni quasi perfetti, conseguenza di vibrazioni pressoché impercettibili. Il titolo dell’opera: I would prefer not to, fa riferimento al personaggio letterario di Herman Melville, protagonista del racconto BARTLEBY LO SCRIVANO: UNA STORIA DI WALL STREET. L’opera è stata esposta presso la galleria Sprovieri nella mostra “New Works #1”, utilizzando 300 kg di sabbia proveniente dal letto del Tamigi.
