The work is part of a stylised series with the same title, Luoghi e Segni, which the artist executed in the 1970s. It can be seen as an imaginary map or a mysterious rebus, made of everyday elements; like the rubber of bicycles tires, which invokes the appearance and sensation of human skin, but also Rama’s past and personal experience - her father owned a small industry of bicycles. Rama dissects this element using it in all the possible ways, whole, in pieces, laid on a canvas, coloured or natural.
