Mario Dellavedova: Sense Exercises / Sans Exercice

Sprovieri is delighted to present Sense Exercises / Sans Exercice, Mario Dellavedova’s fourth solo exhibition at the Gallery.

 

The artist's conceptual work juxtaposes artefacts, furniture, textiles and everyday objects. Dellavedova creates works that through the richness of their materials and the refinement of their detail undermine their own quotidian function. By juxtaposing familiar and ordinary elements these works create an atmosphere of intimacy with mystical nuances that overwhelm the viewer with feelings and emotions. By including words and mundane sentences in works which are similar to paintings, the artist seems to evoke the banality of painting and its subjects as well as his detached and ironic spirit.
